Stove Top/Cook Top Repair
There are several issues you could be having with your cook top, here are a few common ones:
Gas Burner Wont Light
If your gas cook top wont light take note of what happens when you attempt to light it. You should hear a clicking sound and be able to smell the gas. If you hear the clicking but don’t smell gas then the problem could be with your gas line. If you smell gas but don’t hear clicking then the issue is likely with the ignitor. Make sure that you turn the gas off on your stove after testing it! Both of these are problems best dealt by a professional so give us a call and we’ll find out the parts you need and book your repair quickly.
Electric Burner Wont Heat
Is one burner not heating and the others seem to work fine? This would indicate that the element isn’t working. Ensure that it is correctly fitted into the stove top. You can also remove the element and replace it with one of the other working elements and see if that burner now works. If it does you’ll need to order a new element. If none of the elements are working then you have a more serious problem and will require the help of a professional.
Induction Element Wont Heat
The most obvious thing to check first is that you are using an induction compatible pot or pan. As only certain materials work on an induction cook top you’ll have to make sure you have the cookware. Assuming your cookware is not the issue its best to call a pro as induction cook tops are generally more involved and require a lot of knowledge and equipment.
Gas Burner is Making Clicking Sounds
If your gas burner continues to make clicking sounds repeatedly the problem is often a blocked burner. Take the burner apart and give it a very thorough cleaning. If this does not resolve the problem then you could have moisture in the burner unit. Point a fan at the stove top overnight to try to dry it out and see if this resolves the problem. If not then give us a call and we’ll come figure out the issue and get it fixed so that your cook top is back in working order.
Remember that the most important thing when working on a gas cook top is that you always remember to turn the gas off.
